The Daughters of the American Revolution are celebrating America's 250th birthday with events throughout the nation.  The Jacob Bennett Chapter NSDAR in Silver City has several ongoing projects for our community to celebrate this historical occasion, one of which is "In the Spirit of 1776."
      This community project is free for participants, and combines a time capsule with "a message in a bottle."  We are collecting 1,776 notes from children, students, and adults in our communities for a time capsule.  On our special note paper, you can write a quote meaningful to you from a signer of the Declaration of Independence, US President, song verse, scripture, or simply a warm wish.  At the 250th July 4th celebration in Silver City this year, these notes will be enclosed in a time capsule.  At America's Tricentennial, the time capsule will be opened and each note randomly passed out to those at that celebration in Silver City.  It will be a warm wish from those in our communities celebrating America's 250th, to those celebrating our 300th!

Doors open at 7:30 a.m. with coffee and donuts, and the conference will begin at 8:30 a.m.

This year’s speakers include Pastor Joseph Gros, Assistant Pastor Jarrod Mason, Assistant Pastor Adan Jacquez, Youth Pastor Tim Madrid, and Pastor Isaac Kerr.

The day will also feature an archery shooting activity and a delicious burrito bar. Come ready to be encouraged, challenged, and connected.
