Jesus' death means our salvation. The word "salvation" means deliverance, rescue, safety. Our salvation in Christ is fourfold: First, deliverance from sin's penalty. Second, deliverance from sin's power and slavery. Third, we are delivered from sin's pleasure or desire or continual lust or craving. Fourth, we will, in the future, be completely delivered from sin's presence in Heaven.

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.  - Philippians 3:20-21
