Abraham is remembered as a great man of faith. His faith was exhibited through his times of testing. Crises or trials exhibit faith or a lack thereof. It’s amazing how testing brings out what’s really inside, either good or bad. Faith and character are a lot alike: Character is not made in crisis, it’s only revealed, exhibited.

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. —James 2:21-24

The funeral for Chet Russell will be held here at the church on Monday, August 3, at 11am, to be followed by a potluck at the church and then a ceremony at Ft. Bayard Cemetery.

The Friday night Couples Kinship will resume meeting this week, August 7. Couples Kinship meets weekly at 6pm with a potluck meal and a new study of the miracles of Jesus.
